Sound work by Artist Astrid Gjesing and Composer Sisse Lunøe 2024
SPOR (Tracks) is a sound work created especially for the platform at Ikast Station. The starting point is the mechanical voice that in a tape loop says: ” Please do not cross the tracks, the train is arriving”.
The background for the sound work is a text that is concerned with travelling both out in the world and inside the mind. Inspirational texts are poems by Astrid Gjesing, J. Borges, Inger Christensen, Tomas Transtrømer and from a children’s song. The text speaks about the landscape and the shimmering of the light over the landscape. About trees that are counting restlessly along and houses that repeats each other in glowing rectangles. To depart and return to home. About where one has one’s home. About loosing the way when the thoughts and the sun are fading and the clouds are bright and violent. About a rift in the world where the horizon is running out and down. It is echoes from the past ad traces of the future. Like the first day in the beginning is the landscape lying out before you. A fragment of an untimely travel. Is it a dream, was it you or the flowers. North and south and east and west all goes in every direction. It is a strong sound , seductive and nearly without ending, the Earth wrapped in the wings of the bat.
The text is arranged both in the recording of the voice and electronical, it is expanding it and it creates pictures in sounds that captures the longing and the improving of the trip. With the starting point from the station, the ringing from the barrier, the voice and the rytmical sound from the train that advances, stops and drives on.
The work is created to be downloaded to the Mobile phone and listened to while you are waiting for the train to come. It is created in coproduction with Kunstpakhuset in Ikast
